Datsun 1200

Datsun 1200 Specifications

The Datsun 1200 was introduced in 1970. It was known to be a very fuel efficient car and was surprisingly well equipped with an options list that included reclining front seats and disc brakes. It was rumoured to have a fuel efficiency of around 6.2L/100km. Keep in mind over the next year the ‘Big 3’ (Holden, Ford, Chrysler) would release the HQ Holden, XA Falcon and VH Valiant whose base model 6 cylinder cars would have fuel efficiencies of about twice the Datsun 1200. The Datsun 1200 was powered by a 1172cc 4 cylinder engine producing 51kW of power. It would remain on sale for about 3 years.
