The Datsun 1000 was launched in September of 1966. It was available as a 2 door sedan and a station wagon. A 4 door sedan would become available 13 months later. The Datsun 100, also known as the Sunny was sold with a 988cc 4 cylinder engine and a 4 speed manual gear box. A 3 speed automatic transmission would be added during the production run. The engine produced 46kw of power at 6 000rpm.
