The Datsun 510 was on sale from 1967 to 1973. It is also known as the Datsun 1600 or the Datsun Bluebird. It uses a 1595cc 4 cylinder engine which produced 71kW of power. It was available with a 4 speed manual or a 3 speed automatic. It was the first of the ‘Bluebird’ series of Datsuns to be sold in Australia. Known in its time to be a very fuel efficient and economical car. It was quickly discovered that a lot of the Datsun parts were interchangeable, engine and driveline upgrades were quite straightforward and the Datsun 510 was one of the first Datsuns in Australia to see such upgrades as commonplace.
